Dr. Pradeep K. Sinha (Chief Guest)

Dr. Pradeep K. Sinha assumed the charge of Vice Chancellor and Director of IIIT Naya Raipur on 10th December 2015. Before this appointment, Dr. Sinha was the Senior Director (Corporate Strategy and R&D) at the Centre for Development of ). At C-DAC, he led several national programs in the areas of High Performance Computing, Grid Computing, and Health Informatics. Dr. Sinha is a researcher, scientist, inventor, and internationally acclaimed author of computer science textbooks, with more than twenty-five years of professional experience. He has made significant contributions to the advancement of Science & Technology and Technical Education. His technical contributions include leadership in national projects, development of HPC systems and facilities, creation of healthcare products and solutions, filing of international patents, publication of numerous technical papers, and authorship of six books. His books are published and marketed by several national and international publishers. Universities across India, the United States, and other countries cite his books as textbooks for their courses. Due to public demand, some of his books have been translated into local languages, including Japanese and Hindi. In recognition of his leadership in distributed and parallel processing systems, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), USA, conferred upon him the prestigious title of IEEE Fellow. Earlier, he was honored as an ACM Distinguished Engineer by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), USA, for his significant accomplishments and impact on the field of computing. He has also received the “2011 VASVIK Research Award’’ in the category of Information & Communication Technology (ICT) and the “Intel Pathfinder Award (2013)” from Intel, USA. Currently, Dr. Sinha also serves as the Chairman of the Executive Council of the IEEE Pune Section.
